This session introduces vendor cybersecurity risk, where nonprofits will learn how to identify which vendors present the greatest risk, understand what information they share with third parties, and ask better cybersecurity questions before and after choosing a provider. From donation platforms and payroll providers to cloud storage, event registration systems, and accounting software, nonprofits routinely trust outside organizations with sensitive information and critical operations. Nonprofits will be able to identify vendors that have access to sensitive or critical information; understand the connection between vendor security and nonprofit risk; prioritize vendors based on the information and services they handle; ask practical cybersecurity and privacy questions before selecting a provider; and establish simple, scalable practices for managing vendor risk over time.
